O2 (Mobile) have just announced the launch of the Apple iphone 3G.

Just like shopping in ‘the real world’, after a few hours of tireless bargain hunting, it’s nice to have a bite to eat and a little bit of ‘you’ time.
This month, because the weather is so poor, we’re suggesting a wonderful comforting snack.

Welsh Rarebit
(Serves 2 - comfortably)

Ingredients:

25g/1oz butter
25g/1oz flour
150m / 5fl oz milk
175g /6 oz cheddar cheese, grated
1 tsp English mustard
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper
2 egg yolks
4 slices of toast

Method:
1. Mix the butter and flour over a medium heat into a roux, and leave to cool.
2. Bring the milk to the boil, then whisk it into the roux. Bring to the boil once again, whisking to ensure that it does not burn and also that the sauce is free of lumps.
3. Add the cheese, beat in and remove from the heat.
4. When thick, add the English mustard and Worcestershire sauce to the cheese sauce. Season well with salt and pepper and beat in the egg yolks.
5. Spoon on to the slices of toast and grill until bubbling. Serve with extra Worcestershire sauce splashed on top.

Very quick ‘Eton Mess’
(Serves 1 - very comfortably)

Ingredients:
6 to 8 fresh strawberries - with their hats off.
1 or 2 meringues (ready made… don’t call me a cheat!)
4 oz of fresh cream
1 small drizzle of honey (optional)
1 oz of chopped nuts (optional)

Method:
Break up the meringues into small pieces and place into a dessert bowl.
Chop the strawberries in half and arrange neatly on top of the broken meringues.
Pour the fresh cream all over and finish off with a drizzle of honey and chopped nuts (optional)

Enjoy.

Chinese Chicken Salad
4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1/2 head napa cabbage, thinly shredded
1/4 head red cabbage, shredded
1 large carrot, shredded
3 scallions, trimmed and thinly sliced,
Small can sliced water chestnuts
1 small can Mandarin oranges in water, drained
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons chili sauce
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
and brush onto chicken breasts. Arrange in a baking dish and
bake until juices run clear, about 13 to15 minutes. Remove from
oven, cool completely, and cut into 1/4-inch slices.
In a large bowl, combine Napa cabbage, red cabbage, carrot,
scallions, water chestnuts, Mandarin orange and sliced
chicken. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons
soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger, oil, 1 1/2 teaspoons sesame oil,
brown sugar and chili sauce. Pour dressing over salad and
toss to combine.
Divide among bowls and top each serving with 2 teaspoons toasted almonds.
